Religion in the 21st  Century According to a study published in 2000, at that time there were 19 major religious groups world wide, which can be broken into 270 large groups and then in to many smaller ones.  34,000 seperate Christian groups have been identified. 34,000 , That is an incredible division among one faith, and a majority of these each believe themselves to be the one true Christian church.  Thats quite a bit of perspective if you wish to look at the state of religion in todays society.
